Mangalore:Feb.04:The custom officials at Mangalore International airport have detained 3 persons for carrying Rs.65,29,776 worth of illegal gold with them on Tuesday morning.
Bashir Abdur Rahman who arrived from Dubai in a Jet airways flight on Tuesday morning at 5.30 am was detained for carrying 999.65 gms of gold coins worth Rs.29,78,957 by the custom officials. Bashir Abdur Rahman is a resident of Kasargod.
In another case,Nazar,a resident of Tekkupuram of Kasargod dist.who arrived from Dubai in a Air India express flight at 7.45 am was detained for carrying 699.900 gms.of gold worth Rs.20,85,702. Abdul Sattar from kasargod who arrived in the same flight from Dubai was escorted with illegal 49.650 gms.of gold worth Rs.14,65,117.
Abdulla Harris,a passenger of Air India express flight from Dubai was detained at the airport by the customs officials on Tuesday evening and gold worth Rs.13,98000/- was seized from him .
